Cat Care: Knowing the Signs

Cats are usually quiet easy pets to look after, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need your love and attention. As their owner you need to feed them, shelter them and be able to look out for any signs that your cat is unwell. When it comes to cat care, knowing the signs of an ailing cat can save you a lot of time and worry if you know what you are looking at. If you would like to know more about the signs of cat illness, then read this article for some helpful information.

As a cat owner, you should get to know the personality of your cat. No cat is the same; they are all different in temperament. Some cats like cuddles and some don’t, some cats are lap cats and some aren’t. The differences are endless and if you get to know your cat then you will be able to know the signs when it comes to cat care. If you know how your cat usually acts then you will be able to spot if something is not quite right and you will be able to act on it. This is a sign of brilliant cat care.

If your cat seems to be limping a lot, then you need to check his foot. This is because your cat might have injured his leg, or more commonly he might have something stuck in the paw of his foot. If you notice any swelling then this means that your cat has probably stepped on a grass seed and it is lodged in the softness of his paws. If you can see the problem, then carefully remove it and then wash the area is warm salt water. If you cannot identify the problem then you should always take your pet to the vet so that he can be checked out by a professional.

If you notice that your cat has stopped eating and drinking then you should take him to the vet ASAP because there might be something seriously wrong with him. This could be anything from a blockage to a simple upset stomach, but it is always best to seek professional help in these cases if you cannot entice your cat to eat or drink. This is the same when it comes to vomiting, if your cat seems to be unable to keep anything down then you should also take him to the vet.
